I've got a small dig going in the FoD in an iron mine. Yesterday as I was stacking spoil that we were taking out of the collapse I noticed that someone had scratched an arrow on the wall pointing in the general direction of out. Now given that the mine consists of one main level blocked at both ends and all the side passages are dead ends and the only way out is via a steel ladder propped against a wall you have to wonder about the mentality of people who need this sort of aid. :curse:

Sounds about right.

Usually there will be a trail of tealights as well.

We have to be grateful for small mercies; that they didn't spray paint arrows - most likely one pointing in and one pointing out :curse:

Ah the usual way of doing things - two sets of arrows that point in opposite directions, never fails to confuse! 😮

Thought this was going to be a thread about my rigging when I saw the title.

There’s even some graffiti at a low point in Smallcleugh saying ‘watch head’ or similar. Would have thought that if you’d happened to have noticed the graffiti, you might have been equally likely to see the offending bit of rock in question that it happens to be written upon even were the graffiti not there…

You've spotted it too? Not easy to miss! You could always collect up all the aluminium cases & weigh them in, probably make a fortune 😮

No. It's just a tad too far from civilisation for your average lager drinker. I don't know who's been down there as it is fairly well hidden but the visits are fairly frequent. Moved ladders and the like, nothing's been taken just things moved a tad.

I find plenty of fresh lager/mild/bitter cans in most mines I venture into. If they want to kill themselves, let them, but they can at least take the crap out with them if they manage to survive instead of taking a pissed header off a 100ft ledge.

No, the mineral collectors are strictly confined to Cornwall.

I Don't even like to drink the night before a trip.
I prefer a clear head and then any mistakes that are made after that are my own stupid fault and not the fault of too many sherbets the night before. Especially if it involved a serious accident to a third party.
