A Half Hour long Documentry from 1975 entitled New Life in Old Veins shows Blackdeans last Pit Pony "Jock" emerging out of the old Blackdean Horse Level with his handler Gordon Pattinson who was my late fathers workmate in the mine.

It also shows the then newer method of access via the incline and also a section about the re-opening of Cambo Keels with a interview with Malcolm "Fange" Brown.

I believe that Teeside Polly holds the archives fron Tyne/Tees were a copy of this can be obtained.

Somewhere, I will have to find it and scan a copy, I have a poem about the "pit ponies St Ledger" which was written by a "deputy" from Denaby Main Colliery. It is about the ponies being brought out of the mine for the annual holidays.

Take a look on Welshcoalmines website,you ll find photos and the mines that used Ponies.
I worked in 7 Smallmines that used Ponies,in the Swansea ,Neath Valley s.

Another Cornish one , I just found this out, East Pool and Agar mine had a pit pony/ or maybe more , during WW1 And WW2

'Of cause its safe, just dont touch anything !!'
