Has anyone made any scale models etc of mines and mining?

I recently brought some fantastic wagons / drams etc from KB Scale and I have also got the headgear from Wrightscale which I plan to build next year.

Post your photos here!

try the gnatterbox forum, there is quite a bit of stuff on there and links to more

a lot of the models tend to show lack of familiarity with the subject, and more self-parody than a ukulele club, but it's an interesting surf-around for a tedious wait at an airport

I'm most disappointed it's a different kind of modeling, I was hoping for bikini clad babes in Moel Fferna... 😢

As was done in Llechwedd some years back! I think there is a photo of it somewhere on here. I know it appeared in a book by Ivor Wynne Jones.

Not perhaps modelling of whole mines but there are some nice models of water powered pumping engines in the Peak District Mining Museum.
Also, for those with knowledge of the model engineering world, David Hulse of Stone, Staffs. regularly exhibits large pumping engine models. He made all the enginehouses with miniature handmade bricks..........

There is a beautiful minature model of a Newcomen engine at the Cheddleton Flint Mill Museum (OS SJ9722526) found on the A520 south of Leek, Staffordshire sited on the bank of the Caldon canal - see website:

http://www.canalcuttings.co.uk/cheddleton-flint-mill-caldon-staffordshire.html

plus many other very interesting industrial archaeology artifacts on the site as well as the Mill. Apart from Christmas Day and New Year's Day the museum is open all the year round. It is run by volunteers, there is no entry charge, but donations are gratefully received.
