Hi Steve

This was spotted a while ago - and an excellent collection it is.

Take a look at:

http://www.wcms.org.uk/pages/harris_oct2005.shtml

Click on the photos for an enlarged view with notes and captions.

The three photos embedded in that page were all taken in 1893, the same year as the Harris visit, and the same places mentioned. It seems probable that the photos and the notes were taken on the same excursion. 🙂

Hi Peter

I had a feeling it would have already been noticed by someone here. As you say an excellent collection.

it is indeed a good collection 🙂

Some photos were uplaoded here, under terms of their licence, but unfortunately they have a limit to the number that can use and this was only 50 IIRC.

I hope they keep the archive running indefinitely.
my orders are to sit here and watch the world go by

As there is a limit, would it be bending the rules to have links instead of downloaded images? Links either to the BGS site or to other non-profit sites where they themselves have downloaded less than the quota of 50?

I've just been looking at this site. What a sad state of affairs when referring to:- John Charles Burrow they can't even be bothered to spell his name right or the name of the town he was associated with
