I was about to say the same, how about this one, Dee-side Slate Works, 1/2 m. S. of Glyn-Dyfrdwy. Looking E. Disused water-wheel.

There are some very interesting photos of Cornwall. Particularly Killifreth and Wheal Agar.

Yep - that's the same machine.

There's some good shots of Delabole Quarry and Kemnay Quarry too - a slighly different shot of Votty showing the open chambers.... still digging!

PS Anyone got the maps to work - we can't!
The map is the territory - especially in chain scale.

Every now and then I can get it to say something like this but not always.
I guess though that if you were looking at the site in the first place you would already know or have access to a better level of information than that.

Fantastic set of pictures of Penmaenmawr - including photos of the railway in use.

I know it must be me, but how do you get to the page with maps with labels on? I went to the map page on that site and it allowed me to zoom in etc and choose whether to see the streetmap or sat view, but no labels appeared!

Had I gone to the wrong page?

Your right Stuey there are but this one has got me slightly puzzled. No doubt I'm being thick as usual. I thought orininally that it was taken from somewhere near the smithy at Busy (there is still alarge shaft to the south of it that I have incorrectly named in the album) but the positions of Unity Wood and Killifreth don't fit with that scenario as far as I can see. Time for a strong coffee and another ponder.

Description.
Viewpoint, 1 m. W. of Chacewater. Looking S. St. Day copper mining district. A general view across the derelict mining area showing many old engine houses. On the right is that of Unity Wood Mine and on the left are two of Killifreth Mine. In the middle distance are the engine houses of Poldice and St. Day United Mines and on the skyline, of Clifford amalgamated Mines. The walled shaft in the foreground is in the Great Wheal Busy Sett.

As far as I can tell it is Buckingham's shaft and the photographer was stood on the apex of the junction with black dog at his 4 'o' clock. 🙂

Would that put Unity Wood so far to the right of Killifreth? Is the description 'looking south' maybe a bit loose. 🙂 Nice diagram
