These little beasties look the part. A snatch over 12 grams (half an ounce in old money) 1" diameter, 3.8 to 12V operating range 10degree beam angle 240 Lumens.
these little beggars are small enough to have two on your helmet and run em off an Oldham battery, or similar.
Designed for Extreme applications and unmanned aerial vehicles, so the spiel says.
I wonder how far their idea of extreme extends?
Check this out anyway, they look very nice.

Peak temp @ 80C is hot!

If they can reach this kind of temperature for an output of 240 lumens I think it’s little to get excited about, also I cannot see a price in the link.
The problem here is obvious, its attempting to get too much power from too small a lamp, hence a small surface area inadequate for dissipating the heat produced.
If you want super power, you have to have big lamps, but not necessarily heavy ones.
Lamps based on Oldham conversions from Miles Moulding or me seem to do better.
My little worklamp already has orders without even advertising them at £50 for a conversion of an existing lamp. I am awaiting parts from HK for this production run and also to experiment with some new designs. My superlamp continues to impress everyone and underground does not even get noticably warm, despite using full power for extended periods.

I was in Maen Offeren on Saturday and could illuminate all the way down the big incline at the back of the mine, the one by the fan, and ran for the whole trip on 1 power pack although I had a spare in my pocket.

Hope you are well Roy M, I will not be down to Cornwall until Spring Bank holiday unfortunately, but look forward to showing you my lamps.

Quite an impressive looking lamp, that one of yours Mr.Fellows :)

Would have been nice to see it in use, but it's an impressive-looking thing on the surface!

Returning to the L30 unit at the start of the thread, it seems to also be available as a board (see http://www.lux-rc.com/view.php?p=content/showcase/L30/order ) and with a range of lenses: however, these seem to be the sold plastic ones as found in the Tesco Cree torch and I'm not impressed with them...

I had my first outing with a Raptor lamp last night, at Marden, and I was very impressed with it.

ok, not a particularl arduous test of the waterproof and knock-resistant qualities, but a strong bright beam with excellent focus and the belt pack is very light.

first of all thanks for the interest to our product, I was quite surprised to find a link to our lights here!

Yes, I manage this project (L30), I'm glad to answer questions.

L30 is mainly intended to the applications in which low weight is critical. Originally I designed it for big remote controlled helicopters and plains. But now it's clear that it could be quite useful for portable lighting as long as it has a helmet mount which I'm going to release soon.

There's no miracle that such small unit is getting hot when operates. But it has been thoroughly tested, it also features temperature control so it's switched off when the peak temperature exceeded. It also has an extra cooler option and soon we'll offer a cheaper version with this cooler already set.

Hello quazzle
I suppose quite a few of us here are looking at these with interest. We do tend to be quite harsh on lighting rigs as you can imagine.
What would a pair of these lamps cost in Sterling?

Just reading the applications list, it says aquarium lighting. Does this mean they can be submerged in water? I dont know much about lamps and batteries but I assume you could run one of these off a Stenlight battery . Was thinking it could be a nice backup light to have if the cable on it was upgraded to something tougher.

Seems that way :)

I wonder if there's any way of regulating the light output, or switching to different power levels output levels?

nope, normally such lights installed at the top of it facing beneath. It has seals which protect it from moisture but it not designed to operate underwater

but this one is not simple to implement at least in a such compact body. We'll keep this for future, thanks anyway!
