Quite a nice little video care of BBC iPlayer at this http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7909787.stm  of a Cheshire salt mine also being used for document storage.

There's also a like to a video of a coal mine in the Ukraine.

I like the idea of driving around the mine on those 6 wheeled vehicles, would love to see the place for real though.

The Salt union seem to be quite enterprising in setting up this Deepstore area of the worked sections of the mine, it's a shame they don't offer "paid for commercial " trips of the mine too.
The management thanks you for your co operation.

I've aksed them about a group trip but they're not providing them any more :(

They will show you around if you're a customer though, either for deepstore or salt.

I've been been in touch with a Northern Ireland salt mine about a trip, hopefully more news in the summer.
my orders are to sit here and watch the world go by

Shame they don't do trips anymore, they were very good - and they allowed photography/video (except in the deepstore area).
Even presented you with a simple mine plan & mug at the end of the tour!

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
