great photo;

I entered this adit in 1973, though a rabbit warren-sized hole in the bankside. But last year I tried to find the entrance again but couldn't see it. Can you describe how to find the entrance?..or have a photo showing the outside entrance?

hello magpie, its still there, has a gate on it at present but has a bar removed leaving just enough room to squeeze through.

I have a picture somewhere of the entrance, will try and get it uploaded.

theres also another level related to a crosscut of this vein just upstream.

Could meet up and show you some-day? I live at shotley so easy for me to get to.

Thanks for the info poosticker83. I work overseas and visit Consett area every few months. It would be great if you could show me the entrance to the Silvertongue adit..July 1st to 12th 2014 is my next time in Consett area. Cheers.
