🔗Golwen-Slate-Mine-User-Album-Image-026[linkphoto]Golwen-Slate-Mine-User-Album-Image-026[/linkphoto][/link]

Nestling under a tree on the 3rd floor at Golwern is this strange item. It is approx 2'x2'x2' and sits next to the well preserved hut. Initially i thought it might have been a shelter for a small fire to boil the kettle, but quickly disguarded this idea as it is built facing the incoming wind straight off the sea.
The only idea i can come up with is that it may have had a front and lid (absent) and used as a cool box.

Any ideas folks, i havnt seen anything like it anywhere else ...

Wood store for the hut? I've a vague recollection of seeing similar structures used for that purpose in the Lakes, although whether they were originally built for that is another matter.

Toilet base?
The finest workers in stone are not copper or steel tools, but the gentle touches of air and water working at their leisure with a liberal allowance of time.
