Long Rake is still accessible through the stopes at the Eastern end, but I'm told by people who've been in recently that it's starting to deteriorate inside noticeable. Good luck of you give it a try!

I would not try it.
Eventually someone will dig the fall. I counsel patience.

You might be mixing up your Long Rake's there is the proper Long Rake on Bradwell Moor and also the Flourspar mine near Youlgreave.
Its a shame that the potential CO pollution is preventing access at the minute to Long Rake Founder Shaft...because its definately one of the best Mine Trips in the Peak...a fantastic SRT trip...
I wouldn't say the Long Rake at Youlgrave is in a particularly bad state and acess is pretty straight forward...don't touch much and you'll be fine...theres not too much in there to do but its a nice gentle evening trip on a warm day when you don't feel like over-exerting yourself!

The rubbish dump like slope is still accessable, there are ropes lower down inside the mine. Ore hoppers are collapsing in places but like JB says if you don't really touch anything you'll be ok.

Will be doing a trip next saturday the 21st with a view to reaching the far end, now i have a full plan of the place, there are things I want to try and find. I still think there is plenty to see, but it's knowing where to look!
The management thanks you for your co operation.

If I wasn't already busy this saturday, I'd have asked to come out and play...:( I could walk from home to the entrance if I was feeling energetic!
