Hello, I have strong family links to Taff-Merthyr Colliery and am interested in particular in a mine accident after which my uncle Percy Beddoe who at the time lived at 1 Dynever Terrace, Nelson, Nr. Pontypridd, Glam. died. I am interested in my family history on the Beddoe side. If you have any info or links I would be very interested to hear from you. I am glad to have found this site. When he died ( about 1952) he had a massive funeral which was reported at the time. I am new to computing so forgive me if I don't reply until next week as I need help to learn at the moment. Thanks. 🙂

Do you mean the Lewis Merthyr Colliery? Now the Rhondda Heritage Park. It is just down the road from me.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Taff Merthyr as known is 2 miles approx from the village of Trelewis. Taff Merthyr was a big coal mine very well known in the area. I had an uncle who lived in Stormtown, Trelewis who used to walk to work at Taff Merthyr. The area was not known as the Rhondda but thanks for the web address.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
