I worked at Miggy from 1961 to 1965. I was an apprentice fitter.

Hi Derek,your name isn't Rose is it?,I started at Middleton jan 1962 in the screens and then the woodyard and then a short spell as an apprentice fitter in the fitting shop,Ted Barfoot was the foreman,Ithen went pony driving and onto face and dev work ...let me know mate and merry christmas to you .Dave siron

It wouldn't be that hard to write actually, I'd just need to do a member to mine link. I think I'll have a look at this as it's a really nice idea.

ehup derek,smashing to get a reply,i would think you would have a problem remembering me i was only in the fitting shop a short while before i jacked school in and went pony driving ,there was another lad in the fitting shop at the same time dave braithwaite ?,anyway i eventually worked at 8 pits in total ending up as a face deputy and stand-in o/man,the last job i had before leaving yorkshire to live in ireland was at the mining museum near wakefield hope you are ok and cyprus? h

Hi Dave, I vaguely remember the name Dave Braithewaite. I am now wondering whether the person I remember in the fitting shop was you or him!! When I left Miggy I went into the army. When I came out, early 1972, I went to work at Lofthouse Pit as an underground fitter. Left there in 1973, about three months after the disaster, became a TV Engineer, then a computer engineer and as they say the rest is history. I moved to Cyprus just over 5 years ago when I retired for the warmth for my weary bones and the cheap cost of living. How did you finish up in N Ireland?
