yes i know its caving but at £30 a month I'm priced out of the opportunity to post on UK Caving. I wish someone would do a similar publication for mines .

This is an excellent publication A4 , 56pp all in full colour giving sections, notes and all the information you need to know

Cost £15.00 available from Moore Books and caving retailers

This the new UKC moneymaking venture? £30 a month to post up your new stuff?

Seems a bit harsh since you only post up stuff that's relevant and interesting....

There are other relevant websites that provide a free facility provided you don't take the ****. This site being the obvious one! I hope we all recognise that Mike provides an extremely useful service to undergrounders, regardless of whether it is a commercial venture or not. As such, to charge a fee for the odd bit of promotion is really taking the piss.

A business charging another business for a service? The cheek of it!
Not seen the sun for months. Now evolving to see in the dark.

Do you pay for the instructor entries on the New to Caving site, Pete? If so, then perhaps you have a point, of sorts.

Pete I have no objection to paying to advertise but needs to be in proportion. I don't for one minute expect to make a fortune as look to provide a service to a niche interests. For instance this book with Paypal charges, postage, packaging, labels, bookmarks, tax if I clear £1.50 a copy that's all . Doesn't leave enough to pay expensive advertising for an occasional book. I didn't do 2or 3 a week as was suggested. It would become repetitive I'm no wordsmith and reviews would become very much the same and irrelevant

Absolutely Mike - at the end of the day, if advertising charges are too high, we all end up paying. I made a similar judgement when using a photo for which a licence fee was required. The charge added something to the cost of the book in question, but it was reasonable. Had it been excessive, the photo would have been left out and we would all have been the poorer for it.

AND oh its not all take i gave away 160 books to NAMHO delegates at the 2017 Conference. I intend to do the same at 2019. I also invested a lot of money in Rhosydd and Cwmorthin reprints in order to ensure explorers were not being forced to pay the extortionate prices that were being asked for second hand copies and yet to have broken even on the former . I'm no saint but where possible I try to help and be as honest as I can as many will confirm with postal refunds and deals
