Hi Chris, thanks for putting up the posting on the V.M. company.
Most important fact in there, from my point of view, is the statement that V.M. used a locomotive to haul ore out of the Brownley Hill mine.
I was told by the late Eric Richardson that they pulled tubs along the Wellgill Cross Vein, using rollers, bits of which can still be seen, as you approach the Flats.
It may be of course they only used the loco in the main level.
He also told me they had tried pulling the tubs using horses but they refused to do it sensing that the floor was hollow.
He added the statement, referring to the horses- they know you know!

Someone may correct me but I don't recall any similar rollers anywhere else in Nenthead, so perhaps not from the LLC or VM periods ?

I've seen a passing reference to 'the mine was used as a haulage way for ore from Nentsberry Haggs for some years'
and the rollers do seem to end around the connection down to Nentsberry Haggs.....

Nothing I can back up with hard facts though

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
