vanoord what are the battery pack specs ?
could they be replaced with small light lithium ones with a bit of hacking?
if so might well be interested in a head

Didn't see that post, sorry!

Battery pack is quite a large bit of kit, with a lead-acid battery which packs a fair punch. I've tested it and it looks like the cell itself is 6v, but I suspect the battery pack may change this in order to fire the flash - anyone got any ideas?

I've added one flash head to eBay" http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290256920079&ssPageName=ADME:L:LCA:GB:1123

A colleague of mine heavily modified my old unit to take a more modern battery, but if I remember correctly, the battery pack contains more than just the battery - there was some circuitry as well as a VERY big cylindrical capacitor.

The map is the territory - especially in chain scale.

Given the rather remarkable rate with at the flash can fire, I'd agree that there must be a large capacitor in there!

The battery itself takes up much less half the volume of the battery pack but comprises a lot of the weight:
- battery: 754g
- pack without battery: 799g
- all-up weight: 1,553g

This one has the older 402 battery pack, which still seems to work - but bear in mind this is the oldest of the battery packs I've got.

After this, I think I've got three more battery packs (60CT iirc) and a selection of heads - if anyone's interested, drop me a pm.
