G'day y'all.
This years SUICRO in Garrison, County Fermanagh. will be having a emphasis on abandoned mine exploration and mine rescue.

SUICRO is a free to attend annual get together of Irish cave rescue and underground explorers. The format entiles social meetup in one of Garrisons pubs on the Friday night, Saturday and Sunday day activities with talks, demos, trade stands, pub quiz, raffle, skills competitions and entertainment during the evening into the morning.

As well as pre-rigged caves , for the first time there will be a bus based tour of 3 distinctly different mine sites, including one thats normally sealed (if i get its done right we'll have former miners along with us and the best pub sandwiches)

There will be talks by English and Irish mine rescue teams, a presentation by the Mining Heritage Trust of Ireland, and hopefully a headliner talk by a company directly involved in the 2010 Chilean mine rescue. This is in addition to caving related talks, ranging from sea kayaking under and thru islands, to the latest overseas and Irish exploration finds.

Yeas are invited to come over, Irish Cave Rescue Organisation is in its infancy learning about and training for mine rescue so the more mine explorers we have in attendence the more we can have the craic.

Normally theres about 100souls turn up annually to SUICRO, including carloads of English cavers.

So avail of out of season ferry/flight tickets. (Garrison is verily central to Knock, Derry, Dublin and Belfast airports) Use SUICRO as a basis for a longer trip, and theres a cheap cavers hut nearby.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
