Just a gentle reminder for you all about the Parys/Mona mine trip on the 23rd September, kindly being run by Parys Underground Group. We currently have 14 people signed up (there are currently NO spare places).

If you're one of the registered attendees, please can you check that you can still make the trip (in case you signed up months ago!), and if you can't make it any more, take yourself off the the list (click on the event page and then click the link under the list of attendees to remove yourself) to free the place for someone else.

Further details on the trip will be added in the next few days.

The meeting point is at 10am, in the public car park at the top of the mountain, beside the B5111 (Amlwch to
Rhosybol/Llanerchymedd road). Grid Ref: SH438905.

Please remember: BCA Insurance IS required. It is a requirement of the mine owner that anyone going in carries insurance, so if you're coming, please bring your green cards.

However... If you don't have such, don't worry as we'll let you become a temp PUG member which covers insurance for 17 days (come again as many times as there is a PUG member with you) during that time for a tenner. We'll even let you upgrade to full membership and therefore BCA insurance, for a year for an extra £11.

I see SRT kit is mentioned, is this an SRT trip? (I am not competent in SRT 😞 )

SRT is just one option. It's just a fun way of getting into/out of Quarry and/or Giraffe Stopes. I will be leading non-SRT folk down the stairways, passages and thro a couple of squeezes to get to the same places.

You could of course decide to do the non-SRT thro trip between Mona and Parys and get wet up to your chin... :devil:

Clive, do I gather that there are going to be two separate trips, only one of which is the through trip from Mona to Parys? Please could you clarify the various options?

We (PUG) are working out the best options as the pool of leaders is not what it once was plus we've just had a nasty collapse in Mona which has effectively blocked the route to the jewel in the crown, the balance bob in Cairns Shaft. We may only have the thro trip Mona to Parys via a different route and a couple of options in Parys.

We'll be letting everyone know the options shortly...

Really, really sorry chaps but I've had to remove myself as well, a bit of a perfect storm of unexpected events (work commitments, family commitments, unexpected financial commitments) mean travelling to Wales next weekend is going to be pretty much impossible for me. A great shame as I had to drop out of the Sir Francis Level trip too :(

A double blow as I was also booked in for the CCC SRT training as Plas Y Brenin on the Sunday. So if anyone is interested there will be a spare place there too.

Once again really sorry to b*gger everyone about :-[

There is a chance I can go, just hoping I can get the time off work.
