We (PUG) can still do it. The choice is likely to be more limited ie. The very wet through trip, Mona to Parys or an extended dry trip through Parys which, with these low numbers will probably be down to the 45ftm level as far as Giraffe Stope then possibly a trip to the wheelbarrow up from 30ftm (involves a scramble up on a rope - ascenders and a stop useful) on the way back out.

Alternatively, if a few more want to make up numbers, still time..?

Hi all,
There are now spaces available for the Parys Copper Mine trip on the 23rd September. If you are interested please see the event link.

Does the very wet through trip vary in wetness due to recent weather conditions?
Sitting here in the dry with the sun shining outside, it does sound almost appealing.

Nope, depth stays at around chest height all year - pH2 water or thereabouts  (The pH makes it sound really bad but it is dilute...)

Unfortunately I'm having to pull out of this one. Sorry to lower the numbers, and thanks to the organisers.

Yup, there's space :)

With the reduced numbers (7 or 8 down from 14) it's likely that PUG will only run the longer, wetter trip, but I think the final decision will be on the day.

Myself, DezMitchell and spartylea have arranged to come together, so if you are missing 3, wait a few more minutes. Long journey from the NE.

Well, it ended up with just 5. 3 from Weardale and 2 from DCC. Tim and I from PUG led, Tim led in Mona and I did the Parys part. What we lacked in numbers was more than made up by the quality of the trip - enthusiastic visitors so we did an extended trip. Yes, it included the very wet passage between Mona and Parys on the 45ftm joint drainage tunnel - up to our chests in dilute battery acid... Nobody dissolved and we all came out into brilliant sunshine.

Glad you enjoyed our mines and we know you expressed a wish to come again. Feel free!

For those that missed it, you missed a good trip. Set a date and you can come...

Lauren, will you be putting some of your pix on the Parys page on here? Would love to see some your results having been part of your 'lighting crew'...
