Did you miss the part where we're on a public train?! Somehow I don't think we'd be too popular!:lol:

Why can't I stop thinking about a naked RockChick on a public train?, maybe I'm just a dirty old man!:lol:

Ok, less than a week to go!! Please please can we have any more "+1s" etc. The Catering Department (RockChick and Mrs Sinker :flowers: :flowers:   ) need to know final numbers.
Since the numbers are creeping up nicely, we should have a good crowd for what will certainly be a great day out, but could I ask everyone to bring a crust of bread and a piece of cheese or something similar just to help "bulk up" the food a little bit. It will make the Catering Department happy if they have a little less to prepare and carry.
Also, a tin mug, plate and spoon would help too! ;D

Thanks!

ps if someone wants to bring a 100 year old bottle of Port, I'll carry that and take REAL good care of it..... ๐Ÿ˜‰

What are the plans for travelling? Are we all going up on the train? And if so are we returning to Port by train or catching a later bus?

I'll bring some cheese if I remember. BTW I'm a veggie, but don't worry about feeding me - I can fend for myself.

Ok- the itinerary plans:

The train leaves Portmadog at 10.10, so I suggest we aim to be there for 9.30 to give us plenty of time to faff/take photos! Please don't be late as the train won't wait for us!

We get into Tan y Grisiau at about 11.20. We walk from there to Wrysgan, where those of us on catering duty will go and sort out the food while the rest of you explore.
Dinner will be served at 13.00.
After a leisurely nom, we return to the station in time to catch the return train at about 15.00.

We should be back in Porthmadog for 16.10.

You need to buy a return train ticket, should cost you ยฃ14.10 thanks to Clive arranging us a discount (subject to you being in a recognisable attempt at a Victorian Costume!)

Remember to bring: your paraffin lamp, mug, bowl and spoon, chunk of bread & cheese, port (or suitable alternative) and wear your costume!

Doesn't look like we're going to be able to make it this year which is gutting as always had a great day out. Want to invite you all though to our Quarryman's weekend the following weekend on the Talyllyn Railway - is free travel on the trains for anyone attending in costume - and as you all look superb it would be wonderful if you could join us. Will give it a plug under North Wales section too, and ADIT Facebook (do you get the impression we'd really like you to come!)

Hi folks

I can't make it at the last minute due to a poorly leg (NOT a mine exploring accident, one with one of our ponies, don't ask...)

Rockchick has given you the train itinerary but for those who didn't come last year, you need to park in the large car park alongside the Llyn Bach (what was to have been Porthmadog's inner harbour) which is behind Wilkinson's DIY shop which in tern is behind the Shell service station by the harbour on the high street. Unfortunately, you'll have to pay to park... The station is just 2 or 3 minutes walk across the road and the Britannia bridge over the Glaslyn/harbour.

Rockchick and/or Simon will marshal you to the booking office so you can get the special fare I've arranged.

Hopefully, you'll be going up to TyG locked in a wooden seated Victorian carriage to add total authenticity to the journey and you might get asked for a group photo by our railway's 'hack'.

Enjoy, I look forward to seeing some pictures whilst i'm moping at home nursing my leg...

Last minute update... Because it's been so dry recently, we at the railway are on fire warnings so we're restricting the size of the trains so the locos don't have to work as hard and throw sparks. So, unfortunately, you're going to have to travel in comfort instead of one of our hard, wooden seated Victorian carriages ๐Ÿ˜ฎ which I'd arranged to have at the head of your train...
Enjoy all the same! :)

Never mind, I'm sure the Rev can think of a suitable penance for our comfort.
It's heartening to hear talk of dry weather.

It wasn't too wet at all, we were very lucky. In fact, the whole trip worked out wonderfully though it was a real shame some folk couldn't make it. We really appreciated the hard work you'd put in behind the scenes and relished every drop of that magnificent cawl!

Rumours that Wrysgan is haunted by a strange creature who wanders around alone singing Calon Lรขn by lamplight appear to have been substantiated.

No complaints here - we travelled in a Victorian carriage (#14) hauled by a Victorian loco (Merddin Emrys)

Excellent! The overnight rain enabled carr 14 to be added after all... My leg is still swollen and I'm still on antibiotics hence I couldn't join you. Look forward to seeing the pictures.
