Hi Folks,
We now have the final details for this trip.

We're going to catch the 10:10 train from Harbour Station, Porthmadog. We've got a special green Victorian era carriage being put on for us on the front of the train, behind the engine. We've been asked to pose for some photos first for the railway, so please be at the station for 9.40 to give plenty of time for this, and make sure you've gone to town on those costumes! I'm sure we'll all manage to spot each other in the crowds, somehow! Unfortunately we haven't got enough people attending this to get a discount of the ticket price, so you will need to buy a standard train ticket (£21).

For parking at Porthmadog - We need to park across the road behind the Shell Garage and Wilkinson's. (I think it's £3.50 for the day - you'll need change for the 'one armed bandit' to get a ticket).

As far as I'm aware everyone's coming on the train, please let me know if you're not, we'll arrive at 11.25, so will probably reach Cwmorthin entrance by 12.15 (depending on fitness!)

For the return trip, the train leaves at 17.15, getting back to Porthmadoc for 18.25. If that's for too long a day for anyone, there's an earlier train at 15.05.

Please bring along your lanterns, candles, and if possible a bowl, mug and eating implement. Anyone who wants to bring along things to go with the cawl - port, welsh cakes etc are very welcome.

They're putting on the Victorian Carriage for us for free- I don't think it's an unreasonable request!!

And thank you very much Boggieman for sorting that out for us!

Yes, I agree, well done for sorting this out. I have worked out that in 1800's currency for £21 I can expect a Landau to the station, first class seating with personal butler. The following menu; Soup, Fish course, Entree's, A light course, A roast course, Desserts, Buffet, A selection of cheeses, Port and cigars. A sedan chair from Tanygrisiau to the mine. Rock canon firing to announce my arrival. A bevy of young ladies to attend to my needs during the day, and still have two shillings and three farthings change   See you on the 26th!!

Sorry Pingu, can't manage all the rest of that Victorian stuff. (I could have organised it but you DEFINITELY couldn't have afforded it!) Hopefully I've got everything else sorted out with the railway for you. Just hope you enjoy the trip up to TyG. I could arrange for the seats to be bare wood as well if you like so you can experience the REAL way y mwynwr travelled...

Hoping to make it but my lad decided to get married on the Friday after I'd organised the carriage for the train. Dohh!

Have fun everyone, I would have loved to have come on this trip but I arranged another trip for this day beforehand without realising the dates crashed, somehow there are four going on at once, one to Force Crag, another at Alderly, the Victorian trip and a Betws-y-Coed mine trip, all on same day.

Perhaps next year a bronze age mine trip might be in order! Or is that just too unrealistic?

Hi all, how are those costumes coming on?!

I know a few people for this trip had commented that they might bring extra folks with them who aren't on Aditnow, so can't sign themselves up for the trip.
If anyone is doing that, can you confirm how many you're bringing with you please? I need to work out final number for the catering! also please note- no one has said they have any dietary requirements, so I'm assuming we have no veggies or any other requirements?

Could anyone manage to bring a loaf of bread along on Saturday please? I've got that much Cawl to carry I don't think there's room for bread too! There's going to be plenty of Cawl each, I think I've made enough for 20! 😞

I'll call at a bakery in Mold on the way and get some real bread - made with spelt and other old varieties of wheat - really nice and probably what y mywynwr would have eaten too. 4 of their loaves should do it I think.
