I have now asked the owner if he would allow a full visit but we have to get a gauranteed £500 for them to open - £10 each there is no limit on numbers

I've been before but would go again given the chance. Could easily get up to about ten non-AN people to make up the numbers given the right day, (would have to be a weekend), so I think we'd get 50 people fairly easily.

Thats great but BCA insurance or similar is a requirement although that is easily available

Shall we do what was originally suggested and just keep this thread open for people to indicate whether they'd be interested - Vanoord has said he'll liaise with other sites. Then when there are enough, or more than enough, takers put it to the owners for a date?
my orders are to sit here and watch the world go by

its a fascinating place - I haVe heard from the owner - he needs £500 + to open and WILL allow complete freedom - I reckon we need 60+ and money up front as we can't afford to have drop outs he would also open from 9.00am until 17:00

Thanks Mike and slap on the wrist for me for skim reading the thread and not seeing the BCA bit. That said in the new year I'm going to get BCA insurance for me and my two eldest as we need it for certain sites so that's three for Drakelow. I seem to remember that temporary BCA insurance is only £9 so that may be an option for friends who don't often go underground, I will investigate.

Drakelow is such an amazing place I would happily pay more than £10 if that's what it took to spend a day in there. I'm sure once people see the pictures from the SubBrit trips they'll be signing up.

Any thoughts on a date?

I was thinking of tying it in with next years NAMHO conference, however, if 60 people come forward I would look for a saturday date in April pre easter lets try Saturday 9th April.

I need the commitment from everyone before confirming the booking -

Excellent, many thanks Mike - do you want us to collate a master list of people who would like to attend?

It would be helpful if you could do that - we need proper names, phone number and email in order to send updates.

We will also need people to pay up front once we have the numbers confirmed

is it worth opening this up to PDMHS folks too? I suspect quite a few of them would be interested.

I have written to the BCA about the possibility of setting up temporary insurance for this visit and will report back the second I hear anything. At this rate we may not need non-caving friends and family to make up the numbers but best to be prepared.

I have now had a conversation with the BCA and although very helpful they are unable to provide temporary insurance for this trip.

If we're a way off the magic number of 60 people then we could look at calling insurance companies but I think this would have to be a last resort.

EDIT: I've just checked the sign-up list and it's already got over 60 names so it's looking like this won't be a problem 😉

Cheers Remoteneeded, much appreciated!

I'll leave the lists to accumulate for a few more days and then start drawing up a full list with contact details etc.
