my advice is to wear the shorts if they offer them.....its so hot down there. and a spare water if you are taking a bag with you, very salty air.

Boulby is hot and dry, also gassy in parts.

I went there about 15 months ago for reasons of my own and I usually wear a pair of short cotton pyjamas under overalls, they cost about £5 in Tesco's and are just the job for that kind of thing.

I also wear fairly heavy socks with rigger boots, I find they are more comfy and don't chafe as thin ones do when your feet sweat.

The lampbelts there have a pouch on them for a bottle of water, which you do need.

Everything is provided down to the socks as far as I remember, so theres no need to take any gear.

yes, probably. I wore my own kit but I have it anyway, I carry a bag with my own kit as a matter of course.

I'm not sure what point you are making. They are ideal for wearing under overalls in hot dry conditions; they can become completely sweat-soaked without chafing, the legs prevent the front of your thighs becoming chafed but don't bunch up under kneepads or obstruct you when putting on wellies, spats or rigger boots; the short sleeves are good for wearing with tropical or european type overalls. They have a light waistband so your lamp-belt doesn't chafe and being pure cotton there are no issues with static in gassy atmospheres.

and they are blue with white stripes like my old grandad used to wear....
