Feel free to call me a big girl. My nice warm bed and breakfast fry-up might just be enough to overcome the shame of it...

You can call me a big girls blouse too :)

Bunk house or assay house sound better than camping in december

When would be best? I'd reckon on 2 days some time after 28th December; 28/29, 29/30, 30/31, 31/1 (weekend) or 1/2 (weekend)

A weekend would be infinitely preferable to me however I'll go with the flow.

I can do any of those, could be fun being up there to welcome in new year! of course you'd then have to still go underground the next day with a hangover...

I've found going underground to be quite a good cure for a hangover.

Of course, I was younger then!

Spend an evening underground and its all planned when you come back !

Although ideas have already been floated, how about the mini-traverse from one side of the car park to the other ?

You can go through Caplecleugh North Flats / Bogg Shaft which is 5 pitches all pre-rigged with plenty of time for a proper look around them and photos. Then down Prouds Sump and out of Rampgill (with plenty of time for a good poke around Prouds Flats and the horse whim)

Anyone who didn't want to the do SRT but was still up for a full-on trip could take the traditional route from Caplecleugh to Smallcleugh via the deep water and calcified rise, go out of Smallcleugh and walk back up Hangingshaws to see Proud Flats.

Mini traverse sounds good Chris. Any deep water? I have this deep-seated need to experience neck deep Nent water at least once this year, and it looks like I'm running out of time

Any consencus on which two days we ought to aim for?

There is some deep water in Capple cleugh dont worry 😉

I will find out when am working over xmas and then hopefully can tag along. Dont know if will be able to do weekend due to the way the days lie this year. Its either Xmas day or new years day lol so may have to be week day for me. How about the Monday / Tuesday after Xmas as they are bank hols arent they? Also will bunk houses be open then?

Just to recap dates people have suggested:

Edd: Monday/Tuesday suggested, prefer not weekend
simonrl: any 2 days 27th December onwards
RockChick: any of the dates
RJV: weekend preferable but flexible if not (?)

Blackshiver? Chris? DaveL? Anybody else?

Merddin are you up for this?

Rockchick do you reckon Jones the Slate would be interested?

I'm touch and go.
Only have a couple days holiday left to take and was off all of last Christmas so its dependent upon me not needing anytime off in the next couple months and being able to get the days.

I'm a possible attender, depending partly on transport.

I'd like somewhere warm to stay. My recollection of the Assay House last November is that the central heating wasn't very effective and the clothes drying facilities were inadequate.

Don't use me to decide the dates because Christmas holidays at work are still undecided and I could get stuck with being 'available' (i.e. unpaid on-call) if I don't actually end up go in.

But if I can be there, I most certainly will.

Sure we can drag Bri, Wayne and Richard L out too if they are not in some drink enduced comas.

Redwinch and son are usually in nent in the gap between christmas and new year, not up to the through trip, age restricts certain trips, did the smallcleugh, middlecleugh, capleclough jobby when most of you were in nappies, still up for the meandering type trip, will watch the post and firm up a date. 🙂

Just belatedly made the effort to look at a calendar and realised that Christmas and Boxing Day are actually the weekend so the bank holidays on the Monday and Tuesday are entirely free so no problems whatsoever with those days.

Redwinch: if for some reason this doesn't come to fruition will go over anyway if you and Harry are up again.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
