Details of the event are now available on its website. The event is being held in Matlock and hosted by PDHMS who are celebrating their 50th Anniversary

There are some pretty big trips planned, there are numerous surface visits for the less active and a complete lecture programme throughout the weekend.

It is always a very freindly event and very useful for networking

Errrm Matlock I think, this might be the very one http://www.heightsofabraham.com/  😉

Looks like a good day out with the ankle-biters 😉

Ah, yes, that's what I thought, but... the bubbles are different. Might be an old photo I guess.

Too much time spent by Vanoord in cable cars on mountains, methinks 😉

Cable car gets you to the top of heights of Abraham and provides access to two show mines

It's certainly the one that goes up to the Heights of Abraham from round the back of Matlock Bath station. The upper terminus is right by the entrance to Great Masson Cavern which is part-mined and part natural (underground trip in here planned for the conference, which I'm guessing will be going into the non-tourist bits). Further down the hill is Rutland cavern, again part-mined and part-natural. Great Masson has some evidence for later medieval mining in it, if you know what to look for - see http://www.pdmhs.com/PDFs/ScannedBulletinArticles/Bulletin%2013-5%20-%20The%20Upper%20Nestus%20Pipes%20-%20An%20Ancient%20Lead%20Mi.pdf

This looks very interesting indeed.

I would be interested in a few of the trips/walks and lectures.

No mention of costs?

Anyone care to enlighten me......

Mike there is a page with all the forms on either in Word or pdf format.
Some of the Underground trips are tempting. Titan access shaft being one.

Unfortunately, in spite of it taking place on my doorstep I won't be attending, or leading one of the walks as advertised due to a mix-up over dates....

I had to pull out due to a clash of dates. Really annoying, too, but at least my booking fee was refunded quickly - thanks!

Oh dear!
I wont be going this year, and I know that you will all miss me.
Its basically down to just the way that things have worked out, this resulted in me leaving it until all the trips were booked, so no point in me going.

Still, there will always be another time.

If you have already set off I cant PM you, but if you get to see this I only live 45 miles from Matlock so you and Martin are welcome to call in on the way home. My location is on my website, (where I live near bottom of home page) or phone 01922 491650, I am 10 minutes from M6J11. Love to see you both if you can make it. House is a mess just like its occupant. No rats or mice, they all deserted the place as it was not fit for them to live in.

If you do come, bring a flash memory stick/pendrive.
