Cheers
Bad news is I asked about photography and they are saying no to underground but ok on surface. I will enquire again nearer the time in case policy on this changes.

If I recall correctly, when we went Jimbo was given 2 weeks notice that the trip was on by Boulby.
They do tend to slot people in when they can, if there are cancellations they bump groups forward I think.

There is also the risk that it can be cancelled last minute too, when we got to the gatehouse we were met by Peter who said shaft maintenance was going on and there may be a problem, that said everybody did their best to makes sure it went ahead and the we went down anyway.

When I've been before we had a date well in advance and all went to plan ....but they have been known to decide they're too busy to do trips and cancel them. We'll just have to see how it goes, it's likely to be the middle of next summer before we get down there at best.

I've been in touch with Boulby and they're fully booked for the rest of this year

Just checking you're referring to Boulby Potash Mine? I'm a bit annoyed they're booked up that far ahead as I normally have a yearly trip and just arrange it the month beforehand... I shall have to add my name onto their waiting list in the near future!

Any chance that more than 6 could go? I've just read up about it in the archives and would really like to join a trip. Would they allow a second group?

Very very unlikely, a 2nd trip is really the only option.
The trips down there are guided by a retired shift manager and the prime function is for clients to be able to visit the workings, Peter takes on group of us ordinary interested visitors a month, size is strictly limited.
To take a camera a permit is rquired but he will sort that with prior notice.
The only piece of your own kit you will be allowed apart from a camera is your shreddies, everything else from boots on up is supplied by the mine and you must use only their kit.
Thr waiting list is very long and there is the possiblity you will get there to find your trip cancelled (but not if they can help it)
Well worth the effort to visit though

A little birdy told me that the trips are being organised by someone else now 😉

Could you put me down as a reserve for this trip if anyone drops out or if more spaces somehow become available 😉

Its good new there now doing groups of 8 but down side is there no longer allowing camera's

Im there next week for another visit and have another booked for august.

Peter who did the trip before is no longer doing the tours, he has now fully retired. One of the shift managers is now doing the tours. Hence why its day tours only now. Will let you know next week if anything has changed.
