Hi guys,

I'm hoping someone who's more computer savvy than me can give me a hand.
I've been trying to download to my computer the pics I've taken recently and I've noticed that while the pics download fine, the video's don't (I can't even see the video files) that's the same trying to download via USB cable or straight off the memory card. Does anyone have any clever ideas how to get the videos to download? :flowers:
It's a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FT2 (and i know several of you have the same camera!) and before you all ask- it's a video of trying to descend an extremely loose pile of shale!
Thanks!!!

I take it you can see the files themselves, but not play them back?

If so, then it's a Codec issue. VLC should play back almost any file you come across, and can convert to more usable formats as well.

Hi Newstuff- i thought you might be able to help! :flowers: No, i can't actually see the files on the computer- you can watch the video on the camera screen, but when you go to download the files to the computer the video ones just aren't there! i can't see anywhere else obvious to look for them.

My Fuji does the same!
Could be coincidence, but I get around it by down loading the photos first, deleting them and then selecting the video files and downloading them seperately :curse: :curse:
This is obviously not the way it is meant to be but until I find the CORRECT solution, this is what I have to do.....
Worth a try!

Okay. Your camera shoots video in AVCHD lite. You are looking for the mts or mt2s files. You will then need some software that can play/edit these files... Adobe have stuff that will work for Editing, and VLC should play them back.

After a quick google it seems that you have 2 formats -
1. AVCHD Lite: Optimal for viewing on a VIERA TV or with a DIGA Blu-ray Disc™ Player.
2. Motion JPEG: Optimal for viewing or editing on a computer.

Maybe it recorded in AVCHD Lite?

If the filenames have an unusual suffix then perhaps your PC is setup to hide them.

Put the card into the card reader and when looking at the directory they should be in pick 'Tools...Folder Options'

On the 'View' tab make sure its showing 'Hidden Files and Folders'

and while you are on, clear the checkbox "Hide file extensions for known file types. The default setting to hide is a piece of Microsoft bloody daftness.

VLC is great if you want to get a snapshot from a video, grab some decent stills from what you got
