The mine is near New Mill, West Yorkshire.
Since my last visit about one month ago I have noticed that the old brick buildings have been partly demolished so now there is only one partly standing. Whether it is the owners or brick theifs I don't know.
I have been today to take a member of this forum whose father used to work there. There appears to be another entrance to the left of the existing one in the next field behind a barbed wire fence forming a water course. The mining maps show two entrances.
The access tunnel behind the concrete block wall is about 670mm wide and 900mm high with stone side walls and vaulted stone roof.
This mine is linked to Snowgate Head colliery and Wood Pit and many others in the valley. My friend found out today that donkeys to the mine used to go into the Wood Pit entrance

Interesting this ...(my Mrs lives in upper Denby ) and on the way back from her house last week we found a small working (possibly coal ) just off the road from lane end to new mill .

Quite a tight squeeze through a concreted up adit with a "Very small" access left in it,
Followed by a short run of drystone arching ...then to raw rock

The mine is just before you enter New Mill on the left as you come down from Lane Head. You turn down Holling House Lane. You get to the bottom where the road forks and take the left fork to the farm and it is on the right, Poor parking and watch out for farmer. If you follow the road up to the right, just past the old houses the field on the left has been stripped and all the surface coal removed. Continue on to Short Horns and at the side of the timber stables on the left is a mound which used to be a shaft. Go on two fields and on the left is another mound with a timber electrical post on it, on the left is another covered shaft shaft.
