Hi all

The new Photographs section has gone live :)

I feel slightly guilty after so many people said so many nice things... this update doesn't really add much. It just simplifies, streamlines, and makes all the ways of finding photographs consistent in how they look and function...

What you'll notice...

- The pages listed under 'Photographs' have all gone, 'Photographs' is now a single page (rather like all those confusing old pages under 'Mines, Quarries & Sites' became a single page).

- The Photographs page has a simple search facility (as previous, but re-coded), the photo of the month and a jumping off point to all publicly shared favourites collections

- From a mine home page you click through to view all photos for the mine (rather then by album) - look for the 'View All Photos' tab, e.g.

http://www.aditnow.co.uk/Mines/Snailbeach-Mixed-Mine_3187/

Click through to:

http://www.aditnow.co.uk/Photos/Mine/Snailbeach-Mixed-Mine_3187/

- And you can view all photo by member e.g.

http://www.aditnow.co.uk/Photos/Member/Vanoord_2/

--

You could do most of this before, but slower, less functional and it used lots of separate and aged scripts. This is a single page that does the lot.

Enjoy :flowers:

Next up I'm going to simplify and improve the Events section; then sort of the mobile / responsive version of the site. Which is going to take months I'm afraid 😢

G.R. 957/130. OL4 Map.

Try as I might i can’t really find out what they are for. Anyone help?

Possibles:
*Grain store/drying (with a fire) for the nearby farmstead.
*Ganister/fireclay mine or furnace for a fledgling brick industry (New Hey Fire brick Co. was half a mile away) .
*Entrance to a drift mine (many of these are found as old workings nearby (eg. Delph, Royton etc.,) – but the entrance seems to be facing downslope.
BUT -really no idea ............

Question is a bit :offtopic: for this thread :)

But can you give a lat/long or NGR reference please? And then I'll split it into a separate thread and see if anybody can answer.

A Flashearth link would also be helpful.

Flashearth uses Flash, which was a Macromedia (then Adobe) product. it (Flash) has been dying a death for several years. No longer supported on either Apple or PC mobile devices.

Nowt wrong with Flashearth though, its a great site.

Anyhow, the person asking the question is no doubt now totally confused as the topic has gone from a site update announcement to a question about a location to a discussion on computer security :)

@gerryroyle - can you provide a NGR or lat+long please?
