Just a prior notice that AditNow will be undergoing a server upgrade, early next week (22/23 September).

Not another one I hear you say!

AditNow has been sat on the same server since November 2011, and that machine is now too old to be covered by the internet provider's service level agreement.

As part of ensuring the long-term security and reliability of the site I need to keep both the site coding and the hosting infrastructure up to date. This transfer has been in planning for just about 12 months :)

It'll be done with as little disruption as possible. The site and the databases will be copied across to the new machine and tested before anything is switched over. So for a period, and until the transfer is completed, the site will sit on both servers.

During the switchover I'll disable all upload functions (photos and documents) so nothing gets out of sync.

The forum will continue as normal throughout.

For the time being and until I post up to say the transfer has started please use the site as normal :)

During the transfer updates will be posted :)

The good news is that the site will be even faster on the new setup!

The server upgrade has come forward a couple of days and I'm doing it now :)

All databases are copied across to the new server now. Sorry for any loss of service over the past 30 minutes or so while data was copied around.

As of 2pm 18th all data is copied over and the site is running normally.

EXCEPT - admin is disabled - so you can't upload any photos or documents. This isn't because of any problem, it's just to prevent any information getting "lost" during the 24 hours or so it takes to fully transfer a site from one server to another.

When the entire process is finished I'll put a message up again.

In the mean time, it's business as usual, the forum is fully operational.

Just don't try to upload any photos until the admin functions are re-enabled.

The planned server upgrade is now finished.

If you're seeing a message on a red bordered box on the home page then you're seeing the site on the new server; if you're not you will be doing soon (it takes some internet providers longer to "catch up" than others when sites move home).

Everything seems to be running correctly, any problems you spot are either figments of your own imagination or were there all along 😉
