ok after this weekends trip to smallclough i discovered that my type-r oldham lamp is leaking the circular screw plug has come loose so its effectivly had it,i know its old but still gave 6 hours on halogen or 8 on standard bulb or 12 with the retro 2 fitted(bought it in the 1980s who said lead acid bateries only last a few years) but i cant find anyone selling them now exept these..

ive emailed them but i guess they dont return to work till new year does anyone know a shop that sells oldham batteries or should i try somthing else...im open for sugestions

Try Bernies Cafe, Inglesports or Caving Supplies.
All supply Oldham batteries, Enersys Oldham are the manufacturer and will supply you one but they aren't set up for retail sales, you have to send them a cheque and once it clears they will dispatch the goods. Give the Manchester number a call and ask for the Mining Office.
If you like an Oldham type lamp then stick with them, ig you look through the forum their is quite a big thread on the new Oldham DL16 LED lamp and the associated LithiumIon battery to go with it, they are expensive though!
