Looks like a bit of a lash up to me.

....and coming from me, that means it's a very big lash up.

Would be a hoot when you wet hand slips off the ascender since he is pulling with his hands as well as stepping up...
Don't look so embarrassed, it's a family trait...

Interesting, shame there's no footage showing how you would get off the rope at the top.

Can't see in my mind how it would be possible if it was for example a rope rigged off a rail immediately over a sump.

It does seem more difficult to get up close to your anchors but i suppose there is always etriers if you cant find a foothold on the side somewhere
He sure makes the climbing part look easy but I cant see it catching on for professional rope access.

From what I can see it pretty much relies on both hammers being attached as well. He talks of a fall arrester but it looks like the tape just runs through the centre crab

Let's have a big dose of sensible here.

Cavers have been mucking about with this problem since the dawn of SRT. The reason they have not come up with this method is that it is dangerous and crap.

However, it does look very effective. It's still not something I'd remotely consider on a 300ft+ hole.

Not much good if there are stemples, overhangs or other obstructions either. Most importantly though, I really don't want to have to grow a mullet like that, my hair's bad enough as it is...

Do you REALLY want to take a telescopic clothes prop with you every time you go underground?

Looks good but I'd want a chest ascender too just in case hands or feet slip, you may well need it too when you get to the top, it's nice to have you're whole torso level with the top knot / krab. Don't think I would have made it up at Glynrhonwy Isaf with all that vegetation jamming everything up if I could only get my hands to the edge. Also it looks best for people with both their legs in a fully functioning state rather than an iffy one like me.
Light thinks it travels faster than anything but it is wrong. No matter how fast light travels, it finds the darkness has always got there first, and is waiting for it.

:) No, just on one trip! Used for a very specific purpose, nothing to do with ascending!

I'm sure I had one of those when I was a kid. It had a ducks head on it and kept leaning over to take a sip of water...
