Now that's more like the sort of tribute sculpture we should have had in Redruth, rather than something that doesn't look like a miner, holding a non Cornish mining pick in one hand, and a half pound of marg in the other. He (?) also leans forward at an alarming angle, no doubt due to the fearsome underground winds in this part of the world.
The Chinese can do it well.....why can't we?

When I saw the title of this thread I immediately thought of that Peter Sellers' song! 😉

Yin tong yin tong tiddly po (or however it would be spelt).

Not just me then!
Must say though, it looks a better effort than many I've seen in the UK.
And infinitely better than the "dick head" at Sutton Manor.
We inhabit an island made of coal, surrounded by a sea full of fish. How can we go wrong.......

I thought the same thing.
On Google Earth it shows as being situated on Jingtong Road too.

There's one at the Cornish Gold Centre (Tourist trap) depicting the two miners raising the Welcome Stranger gold nugget from beneath the roots of a tree. They look like they have been cast in chocolate, as does the rest of the 'sculpture' I don't have a picture of it for obvious reasons, or I would load it here for all to marvel at....... :lol:
