Did it fall or was it pushed ?

Looks to me like someone has levered the etched stone out of the wall with the intention of nicking it and then found it to be too heavy to carry....

Looks like the work of muppets to me.
most of the welded plates were still on last time I was there too.
Only thing of real interest in there is the ventilation fan and bypass door from later working beneath this level.
Been in there a few times, the 1st collapse was negotiable and most of the 2nd one too although it means crawling through the shale void above the roof timbers then dropping back down into the main way, very hard going and unrewarding.
Shame some idiot had to vandalise that doorway

I think you're right there, I wondered whether the tree roots might have pushed it off at first but it doesn't seem so.
It's a big stone and even broken would be hard to carry off.
The site owner knows about it and I'm hopefull it can be repaired and put back in place, but we shall see.

Round here it's slates off old roofs that get nicked 😞
