More than happy to put togeter a museum list for Europe as well as the UK one.

Like with the UK one feel free to use this thread to post submissions, if the following format could be used please it would be an enormous help when compiling the page:

Museum Name
Address
Telephone
Web address (each entry will get a link)
Brief Description

See the UK Museum thread here http://www.aditnow.co.uk/community/viewtopic.aspx?t=2841  (and the resulting page here http://www.aditnow.co.uk/static/mining-mine-history-museums.aspx
my orders are to sit here and watch the world go by

I've just reurned from a visit here at Le Thillot, Voges, France, 7 euros entry for museum and guided tour of surface and underground.
http://hautes.mynes.free.fr/v2/homev2.html

An excellent museum and underground tour explaining early mining techniques

The first known use of explosives in mining, they say in Europe but surely anywhere? excellent historical as well as archaeological evidence for black powder being used from 1617

Try Glengowla Mines in Ireland just North of Galway

http://glengowla.goegi.com/index.htm

As mine explorers the owners will allow you to lower parts of the mine where there are some very interesting features

The German Mining Museum in Bochum is really good, relating to coal of course as in Ruhr, but wide range of exhibits from lamps, tubs, locomotives, art etc. A traditional museum with no crap audio visual displays and tarted up interactive exhibits.

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
