Does anyone know why this mine was called De Winton? Is there any connection (that is know) with the North Wales engineers?

Looks like it. Owned by Brecon de Wintons - Jeffreys and Parry seem to occur quite a bit in their family suggesting that the ex Caernarfon mayor and engineer Jeffreys Parry de Winton's is of that stock.
