Hello, I'm off to Wales next weekend. My mate has hurt his back, so now we can only do short ladder pitches or walk ins. We've been to Parc and Hafna a few times.
I was thinking of Cambrian, Diffwys, Moel fferna. Of these, I've only been to Moel, so can probably find that entrance.
Can anyone suggest any good slate with easier access and findability please (as we only have the 2 days)?

How about Penarth? Fairly small place but some good views down in to the valley with a fairly short walk up.

Obviously there is tonnes or walk-ins around Blaenau.

Doesn't get any easier than Cwmorthin. Or if you don't want to fetch and return a key head a little up the valley to Rhosydd? Some good ones around Aberllefenni area also but slightly harder to find.

yes, I'd forgotten Cwmorthin, did go there once, he'd be ok with that. What's the name of that place for the key again?

Does anyone know if Hendra Spar is still accessible please?

Hendre Spar Mine is fully accessible. There's a small car park up a track on the opposite side of the road to the Royal Oak pub - don't park up the old access track that lead up to the mine, it's used for access to some houses and will seriously upset the residents.
Walk up the track and come to the old rotative screen then head up into the woods, about 60-70 ft up in the woods you should find a hole surrounded by barbed wire with a steel ladder sticking out, this is the entrance, just climb over the fence and down the ladder. Be careful if you see any bats hanging in the roof, don't disturb them...

Thanks for that, wasn't sure how much there is above flood level. I have Lesser Horseshoes that roost in my bedroom!

For a relatively small mine, Hendre Spar has lots to offer. There are some massive stopes, quite a few artefacts, stals, mites, gour pools and cave pearls. It's quite photogenic too! Enjoy, you can't get lost in there...

yes, we're going there, plus Moel Fferan, Cwmorthin and two lead mines. Thanks.

Tracy, your always welcome at Cwmystwyth.

Just got back in from your neck of the woods, Devon United needs major clearance, I could also say Carbis Bay but not thinking of the undergrowth.

Second thoughts, maybe leave Devon United alone, less it gets built on.

Hello Roy
I did think about going to Cwmystwyth - would it be okay to go there this Friday? Frongoch was on my mind as well - one of my part of 4 has a bad back, so no SRT for him, but ladders ok.
I was in DU last year, didn't see anything major that needed clearing?

Go where you want.
DU is getting so overgrown its like Indiana Jones challenge, that's what I meant.

Might see you around, we're doing Moel Fferna on Sunday.

I don't like the look of that woodwork.
