I don't intend to put a safety line for the full height as it seems a bit OTT.

You will of course have done a full geological survey to establish the soundness of the substrate, risk-assessed the ladders in accordance with Working At Height Regs, and affixed suitable signage demonstrating correct method of use.

'nuff said 😉

Killjoy!! Dodgy laddering that is held precariously by a rotten 19th century nail is all part of the fun!!!;D There's a ladder way in Caplecleugh boasting ALL of these features...

The ladder is standing on compacted gravel of unknown provenance or depth, the mid bolt is in rock of quality unknown due to accumulated calcification and the top is attached to rails that cannot be less than 100 years old and are likely to be significantly older.
All rope used was recovered from fixed pitches where it was seen as no longer fit for purpose.

Feel better now?
Don't look so embarrassed, it's a family trait...

Given that "Pride goeth before destruction" according to the King James Bible and you are going into Proud's Flats, maybe I should call it the Ladder to Inevitable Destruction?

Or for those of a more classical mind, the Hubris Ladder to Nemesis.

Robert, you had better hope that it will be attached better than the one you went up on Middlecleugh North Vein, which caused you a little pain a few years ago!
