The meeting held on 31st October was the first step in a process of consultation. Detailed information is to be made available via a website. I will post a link when that becomes available.

Further consultation meetings have been held at Nenthead and Nenthall about the Caplecleugh-Rampgill and Nentsberry Haggs schemes.

The latest news is that the weirs in Caplecleugh Low, Rampgill and Nentsberry Haggs Level are to be replaced between 27th March and 31st March 2017. We are asked to avoid the working areas during those dates and also to take note of any damage etc after they have been completed.

The EA are interested in hearing about any significant water flows, particularly in Caplelcleugh Low Level. The water flow at the entrance can vary over a wide range and it would be really useful to know if there is a single source underground which causes this variation. So...if you are in the mine at any time when the flow at the entrance seems greater than normal, please have a look at where the flow might have increased underground.

I dont want to take this off thread but find it heartening that a government agency realizes that Mine Exploration is a legitimate activity and that those involved are in a position to offer positive help to the agency involved.

We enjoy a similar position mid Wales where a local mines forum enables an exchange of information and ideas in addition to a positive commitment by the trusts I am personally involved with, towards helping Natural Resources Wales in their environmental and other work.

We also enjoy a good working relationship with CADW in respect with the SAM status of most of our portfolio.
