I could do with a bit more SRT training / practise so depending on dates I'd be up for it

Hi all, I'd be happy to put on another SRT training session in the future, we've had a few together over the years :)

I'd charge £180 for up to 4 people for the day which would include a venue (likely to be a climbing wall followed by an underground session), rigging kit and ropes. You'd need to sort yourselves out with an SRT kit (although I may have one or two to loan). New cows tails and foot loop cord can be available to buy on the day (£10 for both).

Pretty flexible on dates but would need to be sure the climbing wall venue is free.

CCC host a training session most years with several CICs or aspirant CICs giving up their (our) time for free, so worth keeping your eye's open for these days. Oddly at times these sessions run with folk dropping out at the last minute which is a real shame.

As Pete pointed out there are several other CICs operating in North Wales now as well, the ACI website has contacts for several others.

This is a good deal if anyone wants to get it organised and take it up. I did a refresher with Gethin a few years ago and the difference that it made was remarkable. I would recommend taking up this offer. :thumbup:

The first hour was spent tuning up our gear, replacing knackered foot-loops and cowstails and getting them set up to the optimal length....this alone was worth the money in my mind as it transformed my prussiking style in the space of ten minutes! :thumbsup:

We spent the afternoon in ******** doing some mega abseils 😉 :thumbup:

I count 5 people on this thread already who are interested, and Gethin limited himself to 4, so I suppose the planning could start! I'll lurk in the background; I like SRT and I'm certain my kit could be tuned better, but will take my pace on the reserve list as I am quite comfortable already and only in it for polishing rather than building of skills.

I'll start a new thread over the weekend, I'll also get hold of Gethin and kick around a few preliminary dates. When we are somewhere near we can finalise numbers and number of courses.

Sounds about right, I have a few calendar commitments which have cropped up recently but if the date suits I'd certainly be interested.

My grasp of SRT could perhaps be described as 'Basic' if you were of a generous optimistic nature.

A confidence boost and perhaps a mechanical device for ascension? Both would be wonderful! For my weight... a jet engine would do nicely!

Not doing too badly given I'm terrified of heights! :o

Just as a prelim - I'm away from the 3rd-10th of June (and probably out of action for a few days afterwards) and possibly the last few days of July, and then away again for the whole month of August.... other than that... I'm free :devil:

I had a reply from Richard Hill, the CCC Training Officer, and he is happy to organise a course a bit later on this year. I'll try and pin him down to a date shortly. It would probably be at PYB and we would make a small charge rather than have it free as this usually means people turn up! It also will mean that we don't exhaust the training budget in one fell swoop...

Im definitley in and will arange my workload around any given date. Only had one go at SRT and that was in the lost world with Sinker one Thursday night. But I'd like a bit more practise..

I certainly don't mind paying a bit, the calendar is filling up though, was checking for dates to take a friend to the Peak and there are only 3 free weekends before the end of July ::)
