http://www.cambriancavingcouncil.org.uk/pdf/newsletters/44_Feb2015.pdf  reports that two contracts have been signed by a new company called Cave Access Ltd (CAL) to provide access for cavers and mine explorers into eleven sites on former Forestry Commission Wales and on former Countryside Council for Wales land for one year.

Rather than me attempting to summarise the newsletter item I suggest that people look at the text in the newsletter.

To those who said it will never happen, I'm going to be very childish, but not offensive, on AditNow at least, and say this...

"Ner ner ner-ner ner".

Cracking work by all those involved, especially the late Elsie Little.

Yes, I did not announce it on here as is was felt that the initial announcement should be by the CCC Newsletter.

I shall probably open a dedicated thread on behalf of the new company in the same way as I did for Cambrian Mines Trust so as to keep everyone up to speed with new developments.
Its a pity this did not happen before last years NAMHO but we cant have everything.

Yes, excellent job.

BTW by Gwrych Castle Mine, does that mean Ogof Dulas? Or is there something accessible apart from the little adit behind the castle ?

I think it appropriate to make a point here at this stage.

Credit where its due, the successful conclusion of this matter is down to the hard work of Stuart France who took over the project from the late Elsie Little and has worked very hard to make all this happen, and we all owe him a vote of thanks.

I think Roy is being a little modest/selfless ...

The main work has been done by Stuart, Dave T and also Roy himself. There was a lot of pre-cursor work done which involved a number of the (new) CCC committee. The most frustrating part was the "hand-over" from the ex-chairman to Stuart wherein it "appeared" that all of Elsie's work had vanished leaving Stuart to recreate everything (which he has done).

Dave T (and to a less extent a couple of others) were involved in the building of the vehicle under which the agreement would operate and then, of course, the CCC approached Roy whose help and participation has been (and continues to be) of great help and importance.

Excellent work by all and it is only the platform from which we are now building more open access agreements for everyone.

:)

Ok, as you know I'm one of those who never thought that it would happen....too many personalities with agendas etc....but when the "right" people are on the case just look at what they can achieve!
Well done to all of those involved.

Yes, and as i have already said, credit to Stuart France who has had to cope with it all.

At one time it was mooted that CMT would be best to take this on however its possible that if our Hydro scheme goes ahead we will be worth 'powder and shot' as they say in the legal profession and potential third party liabilities ruled this out. Also Stuart was keen for the initiative to be widened as a possible solution to some access issues re natural caves, and this is beyond the remit of CMT which is a mines trust.

However, CMT is looking forward to working in close collaboration with CAL in the future.

I am a bit of a renegade at heart but negotiation and perseverance has paid off big time and I hope that this trend will continue.

Congratulations.

Is this a model which might usefully be employed elsewhere ?(I'm thinking Duchy land here in Cornwall).

I would think so Rick. Thing is CMT although "Cambrian" is rather Welsh really can take on 'assets' anywhere. I have already indicated this to Roy M in reference to a site where there may be aggro brewing.

See thing is, we could well have the money in the future.
There are some important places down your way, as Tesco say, when its gone its gone.
