http://www.hendrecoed.org.uk/Wilkinson I've just had a tidy up of the code (prompted by finding a minor but long-standing bug) and made some enhancements as to how cross-references are handled. I've also added the facility to search for Crown Grants by year.
As far as the data are concerned I've done some cleaning-up, in particular in regard to cross-references. I've also amended some grid references slightly where entries for alternative names for a site had different grid references.
I've just uploaded the new versions of the code and data and so would be grateful for any reports of oddities or omissions.
For those that haven't used the site I would stress the it is not a competitor to AditNow. The bulk of the original data was collated by the late Jeremy Wilkinson from Home Office lists of mines and quarries, the
Mining Journal and other periodicals, various government papers and inspection of old maps. There are currently more than 5000 site (mine and quarry) entries and I add to them as I come across more.
Facilities are provided to see the names (where recorded) of the operators and agents for a given site, see what sites a particular operator etc. was involved with, and what Crown Grants (leases, take notes etc.) had been made. All site and person/company names are cross-referenced with links to allow a chain of references to be followed.
