Morning.

Had a couple of requests for this Thursday....

1. Something cold, wet, insane and preferably involving chest-deep ochre..... ;)

or

2. Something warm, dry and slatey..... :)

So, votes or suggestions please?

The "slatey" option could be Cwmorthin for a quick poke around looking at future "missions". This could tie in with Dwarrowdelf and Hamster who are also planning on visiting Cwm on Thursday before heading back home to Surrey.

I'm open to anything.... ๐Ÿ˜ฎ ..... so over to you. :flowers:

We already did clean warm slate 3 weeks ago! I could do with some orange squalor. But we can also do that after the Surrey crew have left if they're keen on teaming up...

Don't need to take this as a serious suggestion, but chatting with Bogeyman on the lower Old Vein Incline in Cwmorthin had me wondering about something. How close to the ceiling (Floor E) do you think the water reaches? Would it be possible to swim, in a wetsuit of course, round to the next chamber? Corin reckoned that the water level was lower than usual when we looked down into 2 (or was it 3?) West and could see a beach.
And if we were in that area with wetsuits, the sump through to Oakeley DE near the water wheel would obviously be beckoning.
Just the thing for a miserable autumn evening!

I'm certainly taking it as a serious suggestion. I like explorational swimming!

If people really want 'orange squalor' I would recommend the drainage adit level in Catherine and Jane Consols to investigate wether it's possible to exit via the adit portal.

Stuff that

We were up there a couple of weeks ago & Willy Eckers poked a tree branch down to reasonably solid ground & that ochre would have come up to his neck (or in my case, just over my eyes!)

Poposed, seconded, motion carried. :smartass:

Cwm car park at 1815, Thursday 9th.

There are a few little SRT pitches for anyone not up for the swim, and for all others there are plenty of places to go for a wander and explore. Dwarrowdelf and Hamster have a couple of places that they would like to check out, so there really is something for everyone. I shall be taking the "swim" option and then if there is time there are a couple of "up" chambers that I would like to check out.

So I think we will have:

Myself
Dwarrowdelf
Hamster
SimonRL (special guest appearance ;))
Willy Eckers
Pingu
DonStuart
Wyn
Blober
MHSaher
NovaTurbo
T666Jay

Any more?

@chrisj: are you out there mate?
Any new faces?

See you all there

Count me in, but not for the swimming session:thumbdown:

I'm sure we can all find something to keep each of us happy in Cwm:thumbup:

IM OUT ON THE 9TH NOT TRAPPED ON A SHIP ON THHE MIDDLE OF THE SEA!
Well last night was fun, couldnt get out of dublin port as winds of 88mph were registered there! and one of the lines holding the ship to the quay snapped. YAY... considering the soaking ive had i would prefer warm and dry.

But YES i am about!

I went for a bob around at the bottom of the OVI once. I thought I could see a level but it turned out to be a small refuge - or at least nothing I could get into then.

Would I be right in thinking that the level rises as it heads towards Oakeley? Hence why you can do the sump that isn't a sump off DE beyond the waterwheel?

As I recall from last time, extricating a Pingu from a wetsuit produces a rather satisfying kind of "ssschloooopp" sound

no, think I want to remain in a dry condition, had rising damp most of the Sunday trip , after unwisely stepping off the scaffold bar

One or two other things i'd ike to look at if time allows: Am Interested in going in the direction of chamber 29 after my recent discussion threads on this area etc
