Plan to make this one.

No clamps 😞 but drill, bolts etc and a 🙂.

Can bring some 4 mm cord to bind rungs if we are desperate ;D

Maybe even some rope as well??

Sorry, not much chance of me getting hold of any clamps either.
But... if we're struggling, we could SRT the lower section up to our bolts, freeing up the lower treads and clamps to use at the top. That will also have the advantage of lightening the maypole for us to lift it and insert another section.

Granted am commenting without having seen where/how you're using your it but can you not save a lot of weight by ditching the rungs altogether to make a normal maypole?

See you all in couple of hours! It's been 4 weeks since my last maypole-ing!:thumbsup:

Ah, the Maypole Master is back! Excellent. 8-)
And yes, I suppose that's the best, as it takes forever to come in through the lower entrance, and maypole-faffing/drilling/rigging tends to take forever. These few sheep bones are not enough to compensate for the time advantage...

Sounds like a plan, think I'll stick with waders

Looking forward to see what I've missed!

No updates yet! Well, maybe I'll inform the world then. We got to the top! Or rather, Willy Eckers did. Being rewarded for truly fearless maypoling by a free view on what's up there. And that is: at the top there is a very small platform, and slightly offset from the maypoled shaft it goes up even further, but that shaft (or winze, but I think not) is entirely clogged with deads and gunk. So that's the end for anyone not crazy enough to try to unblock that passage! Which would be almost everybody.

You're not keen on the idea then?
The blockage could only be inches thick. Some careful prodding with a bar should establish if this is the case. Meanwhile, it would be interesting to measure up and establish how far we are from the surface or from that shaft higher up the hillside.

I've once tried to clear a blockage vaguely like that from below! One learns, doesn't one. But I'm happy to come along to measure the place, and do some spiffing evaluation of where that blockage is with respect to the hillside and the other bits of mine!
And I'm also perfectly happy to wait in "jack chamber" and a) be the first to know if you manage to clear up the place without problems and you discover amazing new chambers, b) join you to the pub if the prodding didn't have any spectacular effects, c) help dig you out if you don't manage to clear the blockage below you, but DO manage to block the passage below with all the falling rubble or d) alert the emergency services if it all goes horribly wrong. If I can choose: option A please.

The next trip here would be best for just a couple of people, one at the top and then one clearing the bottom. Not worth everyone just being sat at the bottom chamber

One at the top, two would be better. One clearing falling deads on the ledge up above Jack chamber. And at least one in Jack chamber ready to run out through "Sheep" to raise the alarm if required. I'd have to bring the SatPhone as there is no cell coverage in the cwm. ::)
And you always need to rotate the digging crew, so everyone gets a go
Nice little project for a couple of winter evenings when we don't fancy trecking to far
