Just in case anyone missed the accompanying thread, I thought it best to post up tomorrow's trip in the usual manner.

We're back in Cwmorthin to have a look at Floor E of the Old Vein where our friends at Go Below have been temporarily lowering the water level. So it could be an excellent opportunity to see an area that's usually submerged. :o

Not knowing what to expect, apart from dampness, you might want to bring SRT kit.

See you there!!

Just an update :)

Siphon re-started this afternoon and happily sending about 300GPM down to G floor from the old vein.

I spent some time in E3E (the connection chamber) trying to get the strainer end of the suction hose as deep as I could, and I *think* that I managed to get it to more or less the chamber floor, or close to it. A depth I reckoned to be about 10 - 12 foot.

If it stays on the chamber floor (they do tend to swim about) then the chamber will be more or less empty when we go tomorrow night and we should be able to wander along E floor, and be the first people to do so in living memory.

However, I must stress that there will still be water which could be around CWD or deeper in the tunnel, and it'll get deeper the further we walk. It's quite possible/probable that it'll meet the tunnel roof before the base of the OVI is reached. Therefore, I must say, don't expect too much. Then again, we may be pleasantly surprised. We'll all find out together.

The good news though is that with each draining, we can get the intake pipe further and further until eventually (subject to getting hold of enough pipe) we get the intake into the OVI sump and then it's Happy Days.

If it doesn't prove much to look at, we could go play on the freefall jump if any of you fancy it, but you'll need a harness.

I'll be there for 18:15 give or take.

Know EXACTLY how you feel Jas, been the same myself for over 2 weeks now..... hence why no pump hose....don't have the strength or inclination to lug it back from Wrexham. Watch this space though.
I may be out tomorrow night but if I feel like I do right now then doubtful. Having to force myself to go in to work isn't helping :curse:

Yeah no worries guys. I suspect it'll be a multi-stage process of chasing the water down the level anyway so come another time.

BTW its no problem to come get the hose from Wrexham if that's easier.

I'll be bringing full neoprene and a harness. I'll be ready for anything! :guns:

(Will probably also plonk a rope and full SRT kit in the car, just in case!)

I think the water will be putting itself back, but really don't worry about it because firstly, there is unlikely to be that much of interest and secondly my hunch is that the water will need further chasing before the whole of the level can be accessed.

Double drat - was going to come but No.2 son + grandson arrived unexpectedly... :(

Oh well, another Thursday when more water has been chased down to Floor G. :)

Still, at least was able to show them Parys & Mona surface remains this afternoon so was 'mining' of sorts before they went home at 7pm. ::)

(Not quite moved completely from Anglesey yet but, like Simon, packing boxes and moving them over to Mold, car load by carload before the van comes later in the month)
