We're just finishing off preparing the 2016 calendar and would appreciate a bit of assistance with one of the captions.

Does anyone know anything about Copperplate mine in Borrowdale?

http://www.geog.port.ac.uk/webmap/thelakes/html/lgaz/lk02644.htm

Which has the following information:

Quote:

First worked in 1566 by the Company of Mines Royal? and again in the 1800s. Copper Plate Vein.

It would be nice to expand this somewhat!

Also, is it Copperplate or Copper Plate? :bored:
Hello again darkness, my old friend...

Was this the source of the graphite first used for the eponymous font?

The font was so named for it's likeness to the formal script used on engraved copper printing plates. The graphite was from a completely different location in Borrowdale.
