Am trying to work out why chamber 31 Oakeley appears to be split into two sections. Chambers 32 and 33 (compressor chamber) appear to have a similar layout

Just to clarify, it's the chamber you enter at the end of Leval Ffrench which contains the remains of the pump used to dewater the Cwmorthin back vein. The chamber looks rather unstable and we usually go through it quite quickly.

It also seems to correspond to the Oakeley chamber near the boundary collapse (also chamber 31) known as "The bat cave" where it used to be possible to get to floor F down a slab.

The chamber 31 with the pump doesn't seem to drop to floor F according to the plans, and I haven't been that keen to explore it to clarify further details. According to the plan however, there appears to be a tunnel leading from the back (?) connecting with floor DE inbye of the "bat cave" but before the Boundary collapse - Significantly, it does not appear to connect INTO the "bat cave" however. (I've never found this, but tunnel entrances are notoriously easy to miss)

Just wondering what is going on here: - is the split due to the drop fault, some other kind of geological intrusion, or are the two sections actually in different veins? - I don't seem to think so, but I might be wrong.

Just to clarify further, the plan I refer to is a plan of parts of Oakeley which also incorporates some detail of the Oakeley/Cwmorthin boundary area. (think I may have originally got it from "Mine Explorer" site)

Just a further thought: - Seem to remember a discussion which brought up the subject of whinstone dykes causing a discontinuation in the chambering. Is this what I'm looking at here?

Disclaimer: Mine exploring can be quite dangerous, but then again it can be alright, it all depends on the weather. Please read the proper disclaimer.
