Superb shots of this working. It was always full of water when I've seen it! I have found no plans or other drawings in the archives that show it. The only one that comes near is the one that I uploaded to the Foty/Bowydd page. Photographs of it are equally rare - I only know of two, both taken from Tuxford. The BGS one in the 1880s-90s and one of about 1911 or so both show the Hafodty tips in the background before the view was obscured by the Maenofferen big tip. I've added them both to the archive album.

Those chambers look quite deep - the silt in the bottom must be horrendous!

The map is the territory - especially in chain scale.

Great photo! Like the shades and textures in the rock

This may seem a silly question, but what's happened to the water? Has it been drained for some reason?

Thanks, I like them 😉 especially asi took them on my fone

Didnt venture down to the wet bits, I was thinking the same and wasnt keen to get stuck there on my own :surrender:

Apart from the wagen, and telly, there were a few other rusty bits around, nothing exciting though 😠

One pic, behind the low chamber, shows water channels leading to the lowest point...some of it obviously drains away ??? 😉

think you will find theres a level at the lowest point that has a dam in it with a valve and pipe off it we used it for a supply for the wire saw back in 2007 ish
