On your marks, get set....put your walking boots on!

A good hike this week for anyone who fancies a trip to Fron Boeth? It's a really enjoyable walk on a summer's evening with some breathtaking scenery and a really nice mine thrown in for good measure πŸ˜‰
I can't tell you any more than that as I have only ever explored the surface features and the link tunnel myself, although I'm reliably informed that there is lots to see, artefacts aplenty, some SRT opportunities and even some water if anyone feels like being brave!
If anyone who knows the mine well (Strangely? :flowers: )feels like volunteering their services as a guide then you would be most welcome :flowers:

So far we have:

Myself
Simonrl
Llion
Willy Eckerslyke
Chrisj
4737Carlin
Blober

Any more? Strangely? Skimble?
Any new faces fancy a night out?

We'll meet up in Croesor car park, here:

http://www.flashearth.com/?lat=52.982027&lon=-4.03977&z=17.2&r=0&src=msa

At 1800 (approx, "ish", "I promise not to be late...", etc  ) and walk up from there.

Bearing in mind that the walk up would not be pleasant in the pouring rain, please check this thread the day before....if the weather turns bad we have an alternative plan πŸ˜‰

Excellent, see you there :)

@ Sinker, can you bring the bag of bolty bits please and we could do the little through trip

Put the bolts in a few years ago but I'm sure they'll still pass the wallet test!

I'm up for an evening out if I can scrounge a lift to Croesor :flowers:, though at the moment the weather forecast for Thursday doesn't look too pleasant :curse: .

12mm bolts in place, iirc - but no nuts or hangers.

For a moment I thought you were going to say you were coming too Mr V!

The bolts will indeed be 12s, my 'bolt it to hang a bus off it mentality...'. Following a 5am rendezvous last Thursday Mr Sinker has the bolting bag πŸ™‚

Just bumping up the thread.....Bump!....there it goes πŸ˜‰

Ok the weather forecast for tomorrow night is pretty awful, and the trip that I had planned, Fron Boeth, is best done on a warm Summer's evening with a cold G&T waiting at the end.
Personally I never let 40mph winds and horizontally driving rain stop me accessing one of the most desolate, bleak and remote spots in North Wales....however the alternative plan was to have a planning night (i.e. go for a curry in Llanberis πŸ˜‰ ).
Thoughts?
Shall I check the forecast again mid-morning and then decide and post something up?
What would you chaps prefer?

If we go down the Curry Route then we can make it 1900 so Jay and Blober can make it after work.
I'm easy

Windy, most rain around lunchtime but it will still be damp in the evening.

As a vague thought, I might suggest Fron Boeth would be worth a weekend day at some point - there's enough to fill several hours and there are a few other holes there that could be poked into as well, probably too much for an evening.

Might make a relatively simple SRT trip, ie no ups and would probably benefit from a bit of time for photographs.

Might almost suggest it as a day out for the North Wales weekend in July as an easy trip, perhaps the Sunday?

Interested, I can make the Sunday of the NW Weekend, but not the other days.

Hmm difficult choice, a nice, comfy curry house or a rain battered mountainside?
My kit's in the car already so I'm happy to leave any decision until tomorrow.
