May I suggest:
Groes y ddwy a fon (Groesddwynfon) - database
http://www.aditnow.co.uk/mines/Groes-Y-Ddwy-Afon-Slate-Mine/

Near to Blaenau - parking opposite by the lake. SH754 424

Met an ex-manager ๐Ÿ˜‰ Have popped up for a quick look. A few adits - a good looking hole, larger than it appears. Ex-manager said we would need a few dinghys - at least 3 chambers (flooded) - so a hand jammer and harness could be used. No need for dinghys yet, unless enthusiasm....

Will bring 30ms of static

Not in Port at the moment however I may have a chance to explore the Sidmouth railway tunnel exposed last year when part of the cliff collapsed.
Light thinks it travels faster than anything but it is wrong. No matter how fast light travels, it finds the darkness has always got there first, and is waiting for it.

Job done, lots of water and no dinghies. No round trips, mud filled chamber.

Need a dinghy to explore 3 (apparently) flooded chambers.
Couple of crawls, loose roof . Lovely views and a full moon. Llion, Brian and me, very nice.

Thank you.

Glad my directions helped though and that you found the other guys ok ๐Ÿ˜‰

We seem to have a duplicate entry for this site. Could the two be combined (with both spellings maybe)?

Yes i thought that too...I'm still not sure which spelling is actually correct, I've always known it as Groes....rather that Croes....?

Hymac would know best....he probably knows it better than most ๐Ÿ˜‰

Is that some sort of chamber at the back of the pit?

Presumably a dinghy would get you there...

Do you have any extra safe ones in your emporium? We don't seem to have a very good track record using the common or garden variety :curse:

EU regs have forced a design change recently, so the new ones are about twice as heavy as the old ones.

Presumably they're a bit stronger but I doubt it'll make a jot of difference when slate is concerned.

I'd be tempted to use something like a small kayak to get round a nice big pit like that...

Hmmm...thinking about it, there are a good few places now that need access over or through water to allow full exploration. I'm thinking of investing in something a bit more durable than a cheapo inflatable beach dinghy, and concentrating on flooded chambers for a while. Not sure whether to go for a better class of dinghy or some kind of small, compact, light weight sea kayak. Not much heavier than a decent dinghy, much more durable, but more unweildy to carry up inclines and over mountains!

More thought and research required.....
