Am interested in visiting Cae Coch sulphur mine. Does anyone know what the access arrangements are? 🙂

If you park at the top, the public footpath runs straight through the garden of a house that is isolated up there. I have spoken to the lady owner twice and she is quite happy for people to trundle through.

I suspect the lack of response is because the mine is probably within the Gwydyr Forest and it is currently a "hot" topic. For the last "goodness knows how long" everyone has been freely wandering in without any issues.

There are no gates.

A door, once opened, may be stepped through in either direction.

Be interesting to see whether in the light of recent developments it will fall under the control of an access body.

In theory it should being in the Gwydyr Forest there is no permiited access. One of things the body was hoping for would be that non gated mines would have free access and if you are challenged having your BCA green insurance card is sufficient
